It is now the parents’ responsibility to work towards a successful care and access arrangement and to clarify what the next step will be. For children<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Even very young children can sense that something is not right. It is important to relieve the pressure on children if their parents are arguing during or long after a separation about where their home should be or how they can maintain contact with both parents across national borders.<\/strong> Try to have a talk about it, either as parents or as an involved professional. It is advisable to answer specific questions in an age-appropriate way so that a child does not have to cope with the situation alone and take responsibility for it. The purpose of our children’s page is to support you in this process. Depending on the child\u2019s age, this page can provide guidance if you visit it together or read it to the child. For teens<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Young people aged 12 and up will find some information here about their situation and their role in the conflict between their parents if they live separately or if the family is in the midst of a crisis of separation. The ZAnK youth page focuses on family conflicts with a cross-border dimension.<\/strong> This means that it deals with the uncertainties that arise if a parent lives abroad, a move to another country is planned or there is a dispute about the young person’s future primary place of residence and\/or contact with both parents.
